C - EGO Cryogenic Test Facility
The EGO Cryogenic Test Facility is a cryostat cooled by pulse tubes only. The base temperature will be about 8K. It consists of a stainless steel OVC, an aluminum 80K radiation shield and an aluminum 8K radiation shield which is also a vacuum chamber. The facility will be used by EGO to test mirror properties at low temperatures for the future ground based laser interferometers, with the purpose of reducing the thermal noise to increase the sensitivity within a certain bandwidth.
